"Musings and Ramblings of A Convoluted Mind"

This morning has largely been devoted to taking pictures of my son and editing them so as to print and place them into Christmas cards.

Thing is… I am having a hard time choosing what image to use!  I could reshoot… but honestly, taking pictures of a toddler is a little frustrating and the lighting in my living room is poor so it results in blurry photos.  Factor in that my child can’t sit still for longer that two seconds and you get a real mess.  I should be glad he at least left the Santa hat on.  (Still a little crank and amused that he wouldn’t hold his stuffed penguin right side up.  I’d fix it but by the time I set up to take a shot the penguin was feet side up again…)

Let me start by posting the original images:

Pose One – Original Shot

Pose Two – Original Shot

Pose Three – Original Shot

Now onto the processed images.  I’m going to cull out the shots that wouldn’t print well simply because there would be far too many images to post.  Sad, because they are all cute but you get to see the original cuteness above.

Let’s call this “Option A”.  Two actions used here.  I’m tempted to try these actions on the smiling     picture of my son.

This is going to be Option C.  Adjusting the light would help this image, otherwise I think it will be unprintable.

To keep in tune with my Flickr account, we’re going to call this option D.

Option G.  Something about the softness in the shot hits me.  But I’m not sure this one is really in the running.

Okay… so, in a comment I would love to hear what people think.  If there is an original you’d like to see processed in another fashion, let me know that too.  Thanks all!!!

{December 7, 2009}   For Your Well Being

Alright.  A few days ago I posted about doing P90X.  Well, I went to GNC to see what things I could help to go along with that.  The woman recommended I do a one week cleanse.  So, per her instruction, I purchased a Well Being kit.

Now, I’m all for things that are good for your body and such – even if they are gross.  But this is really gross.  There are these 4 bottles of this stuff you have to drink and it’s GREEN.  Like… thick GREEN stuff.  We’re talking wheat grass…

Now, the stuff is citrus flavored so it isn’t horrible tasting but it is hard to get past the color and the fact that there are green floaty things in the already green drink.  Luckily, you only drink two the first day and two the second.  The other seven days you just take some pills.  Pills I can do, no problem.  I’m just glad that I have day one down and only tomorrow to go with the green stuff.

I wasn’t really sure what this would do.  Would I end up spending half my time in the bathroom to “detoxify” myself?  And I am in the bathroom a little more than normal – peeing all the darn time!  The recommend pushing a lot of water while using this, and I have. So that could be half the reason for all the toilet trips.

So, that’s my excitement for the day.  The joy of a stay home mom!

I’m not sure what to do for my picture today and I need to update on my last two pictures.

Day five:

And Day Six:

I don’t really care for day six too much, but I wanted to feature my little bubble lights some how.  Without a fancy pants camera I can’t catch the great bubble action in the light.  I attempted to get bokeh with the lights but wasn’t successful.  My dof sucks with this camera. :o(

{December 3, 2009}   Busy Day But Nothing To Say

Day Three of the 24 Days of Christmas – done.

Today was a cleaning day.  Worked in the house until a little after two and then I took the little man outside to play.  Met up with the neighbor across the street who has a little girl a few months younger than Bradley.  They played for awhile and I realized that Bradley has forgotten how to share.  He used to be so good at it… but he’s been out of playgroups and hourly care sessions for a few months.  Woops!  I know I need to get him back in hourly care, just for the social interaction (as well as for my sanity).

I had wanted to share some of the things I that put on Bradley’s wish list for Christmas, toys made from recycled products – way cool, but I’m tired tonight.

Slacked on my P90X because I was sore but I think I made up for total lack of activity with the cleaning.  It’s the monthly “big scrub” I like to do where every surface is over turned.  I guess it’s a mini spring cleaning… or fall or winter… whatever.

{December 2, 2009}   Take Two?

Alright, I’ll be honest. I blogged once today already and I don’t know what else to say lest I use up another topic to cover this month of posting I hope to do. So I’ll just copy and paste what I wrote on Flickr about this picture.

These beads have been in my family for as long as I can remember. My dad used to decorate the iron chandelier with them. Once they were handed down to me I always put them on m tree. This year since I was just doing silver and blue I decided to not use the gold beads.

I want to use these somewhere in my house, simply because for as long as I can remember they have been displayed somewhere. I’m just not sure where to put them right now. But they made for a nice picture.

Enjoy.  More tomorrow!

{December 1, 2009}   Here We Go Again…

So, thanks to curiousillusion, I am once again undertaking a project that I probably won’t complete.  This one is called 24 Days of Christmas (because apparently NO ONE actually takes pictures on December 25th??).   A day or so ago she told me about this project and immediately I had ideas for shots.  Of course, in my mind things always seem/sound/appear better than what they are or turn out to be.  I really thought my picture would be stunning.  Well, it isn’t.  Maybe it is because I have a point and shoot… maybe I’m just not creative anymore.  Either way, it’s decent but it’s just average.  I want to post something that will get people to go “wow, that’s a great picture”.

Is that selfish?

Day One of Twenty Four.

When I was younger we used to make popcorn and cranberry garland for our tree every year. Now that I’m a mom I wanted to extend that tradition to my son and little family. So.. for three evenings I sat and strung a cranberry followed by three pieces of popcorn.  Time consuming and sticky business!  I think my son ate more popcorn than what ended up on the tree too.  (He tried a cranberry but spit it out… wish I had my camera for THAT shot).

Our tree is a little bare this year. I didn’t want to hang glass decorations with a two year old in the house… not to mention the kitten who thinks she can climb the tree! Instead, my son and I made foam decorations, which I am sure will be featured somewhere in my 24 days of Christmas.  I want to cut down on any holiday tragedy that could befall us… glass just seemed like a where little hands could get at them.  We also didn’t put anything on the bottom branches of the tree in fear the kitten would swat at them.  She still attacks the tree…   I don’t think I can’t keep her from it.

Hopefully tomorrow’s picture will be better.  My hands were shaky tonight.  Maybe that had something to do with it.  I need to find my gorillapod.
